I'm using the widget search function on my site and it functions properly, but it throws an error sometimes when using it:
"Deprecated: Assigning the return value of new by reference is deprecated in /home/content/83/12010383/html/wp-content/themes/power-gym-wordpress/search.php on line 16"
Currently line 16 in my code is blank and I didn't edit this file at all. I can provide the entire code if needed.

I've tried deactivating some plugins to see if that helped, but the error still occurs. Anyone else have an issue like this and how can I fix it? Thanks
