CarlaChristineMonson on "Error on filezilla & question regarding local install of LIVE site using MAMP"

Hello, thanks for coming to my rescue!

Currently I have MAMP installed and I have a live wordpress site that i'd like to work on locally.
I've exported all of my database's from my hosting phpmyadmin, currently the file is zipped sitting in my downloads.
My MAMP preferences are set to save the root file to htdocs as suggested.

I was advised to download filezilla which i have done and i've filled in my correct FTP login/user details. However there I get an error code:
Error: Could not read from socket: ECONNRESET - Connection reset by peer
Error: Disconnected from server

Please can someone explain to me where I need to go from here?
I'm tempted to get the duplicator plug in but I want to learn this myself!
I've read/watched countless tutorials but I feel like i'm missing one or two little steps.

My goal is to get this done today! Please help.
Thank you.
Carla

So I'm running http://www.swikks.com, and suddenly, when I tried to log in using "swikks.com/wp-admin, I get a "pop-up window containing this info: "Website under maintenance, password required". This popup window comes up even if you only enter http://www.swikks.com. Why is this happening? My password won't work, so I have no idea how to fix it. I tried to download the webpage and upload it using the same, and another database, but it didn't make any difference.

I recently created a blog, I still have not fully customized it and I'm still new to everything that this entails so I've been moving very slowly with getting it up and running as everything is very confusing for me.

Today I tried to access the admin panel and was not able to because the page states that "this webpage is not available. The server at http://www.islandwifecitylife.com can't be found, because the DNS lookup failed. DNS is the network service that translates a website's name to its Internet address. This error is most often caused by having no connection to the Internet or a misconfigured network. It can also be caused by an unresponsive DNS server or a firewall preventing Google Chrome from accessing the network."

The browser that I'm using is Google Chrome but I have tried to open the website in Safari and wasn't able to access it on that either. I was able to access a cached version of the website but when I clicked the log in link it took me back to the same error page.

The theme that I believe I was using was either the default one for this year or hemmingway, I was trying to tweek between the two to see what I preferred and I'm actually in the process of purchasing another theme. My domain was set up via Hostgator.com and I have very little knowledge on this topic as I just created this blog 3 weeks ago so please keep that in mind when assisting me with the problem.

Thanks in advance to whoever can help me!

Hi

I have a website that connects to Amazon when people click on add to cart. I noticed that when Wordfence monitors activity it shows an action of viewing and oject and then the user moving to the same object with "?wc-ajax=get_refreshed_fragments" added to the end. It also appears for cart. Is this an error or something that I should be worried about? Or is this normal behaviour?

Thanks

Before you dismiss me because I am using WooCommerce, please read my entire post.

I believe there may be an issue with using the Rename Login and Force Logout features together with or without WooCommerce. I came across this recent thread where the user was having an issue with these two features together. The user "resolved" the issue by disabling the Rename Login feature, but I do not see that as an acceptable resolution. Features bundled within your plugin should be able to work together. It seems to me that it's very likely there is an issue with your Force Logout feature not redirecting properly when the login URL is anything but the default wp-login.php.

Anyway, my additional issue with WooCommerce is with customer registration from the My Account page. When I have Force Logout enabled and try to register a new customer account, I get a 404 error and the following URL:
http://www.mysite.com/store/wp-login.php?redirect_to=http://www.mysite.com/store/my-account/&aiowps_login_msg_id=session_expired

The user account does get registered, but the user's session is considered expired, and a 404 error is generated apparently due to the Rename Login feature being enabled. Disabling the Force Logout feature allows for registration to work properly (user is logged in and taken to the My Account page as expected) even with Rename Login enabled.

On a side note, and as a possible resolution to this issue, I would wish for the option to enable Force Logout for Admins, Authors, etc. and not for Subscribers, Customers, etc. (i.e., users with read-only access). I'm not that concerned with forcing read-only users to log out after a certain period, but I would like to do so for users with access to the admin area. Furthermore, if the 404 error occurs when I'm logged in as admin, I know what the problem is and can deal with it. However, this would be a frustrating and annoying issue for subscribers and customers.

Thank you for reading.
